It has been a busy summer of construction on the site of The Setting on France Avenue, Edina’s new standard in elevated living. The most visible changes are happening on the building’s exterior.

One of the project’s biggest (and tallest) milestones to date? The six-story building, which also includes two levels of underground parking, reached its full height in August.

With the building at its final height, crews from Northland Concrete and Masonry have been installing a tan brick facade that pays homage to the limestone found throughout Minnesota.

The Setting. with 150 units including penthouses, is a substantial building in stature. To make installation of the brick easier, masonry crews are utilizing a hydraulic mast climber that attaches directly to the building structure. The system allows crews to adjust their work platform as construction progresses, greatly speeding up progress compared to traditional scaffolding.

There’s plenty happening behind the scenes, too.

Conservatory Craftsmen has installed the frame for the building’s conservatory, which is located within The Setting’s courtyard and will become one of the The Setting’s most distinctive shared spaces.

Framing for the Twin Cities’ first all-glass residential conservatory is completed.

Inside The Setting, work continues on electrical and plumbing rough-in, along with installation of the building’s fire sprinkler system. These crucial systems will eventually serve residents throughout the building and must be carefully completed before walls and ceilings are closed in.

As rough-in work progresses, skilled trade partners will begin moving into the early stages of interior finish work.

Rough-in of mechanical systems like plumbing and electrical are in full swing.

There is plenty more progress ahead even after a summer of big changes. Completion of The Setting is expected in spring 2027, with pre-leasing beginning soon.
