Construction rarely takes a day off. This week, though, is set aside to recognize the people who dedicate their careers to crafting the buildings that become our homes, our businesses, our schools, and the places we make memories.
There is no doubt that construction is hard work anywhere.
In the Upper Midwest, it means pouring concrete in unrelenting winds, framing through a blistering July heat wave, and keeping projects moving no matter what Mother Nature delivers.
Behind every project is a long list of electricians, plumbers, framers, concrete crews, drywallers, field engineers, HVAC techs, and finish carpenters whose names never make it onto the sign out front. Their skill and sacrifice are a big reason why we are able to do what we do.
Some of them you may already know.
Earlier this year we featured Wayne McLean and his work in small towns like Ada, where he has built everything from a home for adults with developmental disabilities to the city’s new municipal complex. Before that we highlighted team members like Blake Madson, who keeps projects on schedule while making sure crews stay safe, and Pierce Johnson, who started with us as an intern and now manages projects of his own.
There are many more like Wayne, Blake, and Pierce across every job site and every project.
