Some projects start with a blueprint. Others start with something much closer to home.
Jodi Driscoll’s roots in Breckenridge go back generations. Her father, Kal, dedicated years of his career to serving older adults through his leadership at St. Francis Home, one of Breckenridge’s largest nursing homes.
It makes sense that Jodi would feel called to create something for the senior members of her hometown. More than anything, however, she wanted to create a place where her mother, Janice, would feel at home.

Designed by RHET Architecture and built by Great States Construction, Next Chapter is neither a nursing home nor an assisted living facility. It is a six-unit residential community in Breckenridge, Minnesota, created for adults 55 and better who want to live independently without giving up the connection and comfort of having neighbors nearby.
Each residence features nine-foot ceilings, large windows, quartz countertops, zero-entry showers, and in-unit laundry. Every garage is finished, heated, and accessible without stepping outside—a detail residents are sure to appreciate during Minnesota winters.
That sense of connection is what separates Next Chapter from a traditional apartment community. With only six residences, neighbors won’t simply recognize one another in the halls. They will truly know one another.
At the heart of the property is an expansive shared space featuring vaulted ceilings, a built-in media center, and a large kitchenette. It provides residents with a comfortable place to gather, visit, and build relationships while still enjoying the privacy of their own homes.
The Wahpeton Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the opening of Next Chapter with a ribbon cutting. Four of the six residences had already been leased before the doors officially opened.
Jodi’s mother, Janice, was among the first residents to move in.
